Title: Opinion on Canon printer reliability wanted

I'm going to buy the new Canon 4600 while it's on sale for $4,000 but the 2 year extended warranty is another $1,775. Do you think it's worth it?

Only if you're running a commercial print shop and need immediate help if the printer goes down.

I'm a solo photographer still running my iPF8300 without any issues.

Since the new printer is not entirely new but an evolution of the 4000 and 4100 I believe that the extended warranty is not needed.

I would say no. From reading this forum, the main reason people buy Epson's extended warranty is the high price to replace the print head if it clogs or fails. The Canon print head is user replaceable, so no worries there. Plus, I've used my Canon 8300 daily for almost 14 years.
