I am having problems sourcing a good quality belt for this printer. I sourced one out of China but it vibrates badly and caused carriage stall. I ordered another one from a different source but they sent the wrong part. I have tried the usual suspects for a replacement but no luck so far. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

Just to close this one off as I had no replies... I did track down a genuine part on Ebay and fitted it. It works perfectly and the printer is good for another few years. The lesson here is that there really is a huge difference between genuine parts and cheaper non-OEM parts when it comes to carriage belts. The cheaper part looks pretty much the same but is much stiffer and does not have the correct degree of elasticity required in this machine. Unfortunately HP no longer supply the item so you are on your own and have to track down some NOS from somewhere.

Hi Alistair, glad to hear you got it working again. Does LPS Computer not sell Z6200 belts anymore? I still get my Z3X00 belts there.

Unfortunately they are sold out. They are always my first port of call for HP stuff!

Interesting... Hopefully they're not getting out of the belt business. It's my understanding that LPS contracts with a belt manufacturer specifically to produce Z-series belts. So if they're sold out, I wonder if it's just because there is a backlog for some reason at the manufacturer, and not that LPS has actually stopped ordering the belts to be made. Tho if it was the later I'd think that LPS would change their website to say "discontinued" (or remove them entirely) instead of just "sold out".
Maybe I'll grab another another Z3100/Z3200 belt tho just in case...
