Title: Goldfield Nevada
Post by: Dave (Isle of Skye) on January 29, 2024, 04:15:22 pm
From a quick photo stop, on our recent 4,000 mile tour around the American West.

All hand held and all done in what I believe to be, the "American Vernacular" style of photography.

Well as they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans...

Not my usual style of photography I must admit and also, not normally a photographic style I would seek out to look at, being a Brit an all. Yet when I was there in the desert and looking at scenes like these, then it all started to make perfect sense to me. And what do you know, now I really like it - but unfortunately, there just aren't enough deserts with abandoned gold mines here in Scotland - like zero..

The first one with the old, leaning wooden gold mine struts, random wires, Joshua trees and dusty mountains in the distance etc., is the missus absolute favourite from the entire holiday. In fact she would like a copy of it hanging on our living room wall please. And you know what, I think I might too  ;D

What a nice trio, true "Americana".

Classic vintage America. I like it very much, especially the second one. It's a bit less classic with that silhouette.
Bravo, again.

How cool! A miner checking his next shift on his mobile!

I saw this image, as a comment on the current gender craziness sweeping the planet. With a modern young person, who I assume is supposed to be male, but with a big heavy sign hanging over him that says SHE, and that looks about ready to fall on his head and knock him out.

But yeah, perhaps that's me going a bit too deep.  ;D
