Title: Unable to post: a possible solution
Post by: rogerxnz on November 13, 2023, 06:02:37 pm
If your post is rejected with a "Database error" the problem might be due to your message containing a hyphen keyed from a Mac computer.

I suggest you replace the hyphen with

[hyphen]

and try again!

It worked for me.

Thanks, I will try that but really, the powers to be here should FIX the forum software, which never had this issue in the past.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The post fails so you try again and get this insult.

No hyphens are involved, only some basic formatting. Content was pasted in from plain text.

On a Mac, hyphens and ellipsis and possibly other "special" characters in messages prevent posting.

Peter,
Ellipsis, hyphen (Option + -) and variants still don't allow me to post but you used the minus sign and it's OK.
FWIW, I'm always using the minus sign except on one of my computer with a third party spell-checker (supposedly typographically better???) and it replaces "-" (minus) with proper hyphen when (supposedly) needed.

Ellipsis, hyphen (Option + -), and variants used to work. The damn forum software is buggy and needs to be fixed.

The damn forum software is buggy and needs to be fixed.

The forum software worked tolerably well for many years, but it has been broken for months now and it increasingly seems unlikely it ever will be fixed.  As you have already pointed out, there is an alternative (https://photopxl.com/forums/).
