Title: No. 9 Trolley Trail, Ellicott City, Maryland
Post by: Bob_B on February 09, 2023, 04:44:34 pm: I had an opportunity to get out in unseasonable warm weather to photograph in and around Old Ellicott City, Md., with particular emphasis on the No. 9 Trolley Trail. The Historical Ellicott City/Baltimore Trolley Line #9 Trail is a 1.25-mile (2.0 km) trail in western Baltimore County, Maryland. It begins at the west end of Edmondson Avenue and extends from Catonsville through Oella to Main Street, Ellicott City. It's a favorite venue of mine for cycling, birding and photography.

The trail follows what was originally part of the Catonsville and Ellicott City Electric Railway Company trolley line that shuttled passengers between Ellicott City and Baltimore from the late 1890s to the mid-1950s.

This B/W photograph was processed from four separate files captured using a Canon 5D Mk4 camera and a Canon 24-70 mm EF II lens. Processing was done to give a ‘wet plate’ (collodion) feel to the image.

Very evocative.
I grew up not far from the old Trolley line. You do it well.
Reminds me in a pleasing way of the old historical Sunday Sun section.

You know Bob - and this is not a criticism - if there was a toddler dragging an old tatty teddy bear, toddling away from the camera about two thirds of the way into this scene on the left and holding onto the railings, then I think this shot would be up there with the greatest of the all time greats.

Have you got a grand kid that you can borrow???
