hello, i just made a test print of about 1 m, because the size of the document i wanted to print was apparently too large.
Size 1,5m long 1.11m wide and 600 dpi adobe rgb 8bit.
i print from Photoshop- Mojave; Will Monterey make a difference?
I got a warning sending of the psb file that there might be a problem for it was larger than 2GB. So i was warned.
Printing stopped after about 1m ; crash report said: QuickLookSatellite stopped unexpected.
does anybody recognize this problem and has a fix for printing larger?
Would like to know.

Yes, drop the dpi to 300. No need for 600.

I agree. With such a large image the changes between pixels are small enough that there is no advantage to using higher resolution. This is different when printing smaller, overall images where it is possible to get large enough changes that aliasing is visible.

It is not for me but for a demanding artist ;)
Anyway I found out what the bottleneck is: Adobe.
Adobe programs seem to have a limit of about 32.000px length : i am trying to find out the real border: it is about 28.500px...
I agree: good enough for a solid print; but remarkable that there is such a bottleneck.
Need to buy a RIP to solve the situation in a perfect way...
But no, I am going down to less dpi!

Get inexpensive QImage and never worry about that again. It is now for Mac and pc -

I always thought rips were too costly... fit for real print offices..

It’s not really a rip, it’s more of a secondary print module ( and a lot cheaper one than Image Print ) . You can’t use it to linearize media but it functions really well as a adaptable print driver .

I am not familiar with the Qimage One features but in Qimage Ultimate (Windows only) there is a Poster function, as described in the manual Example 6, that deals with length/data limits in printer drivers. While QU certainly does not reduce the data size it sends to the printer driver it can chop that stream in digestable parts and they will fit seamless in print. Wonder how Qimage One could be used in the same way.

As Andrew of binartem told me , it uses the hp driver and has therefore the same limits.

Qimage Ultimate uses the Windows HP drivers as well but it still can do that trick to print beyond the length limitations. Done 5 meter prints that way.
BTW, on my older Z3100 (non postscript) adding the HPGL driver extension increased the print length above the 240?cm of the normal PCL driver.
