Does anyone know this?
I work for many years with photoshop and like to use paths to make selections.

How can i choose that the selection will be the inside or outside of a path?
At the moment the default is outside , but i know it also was inside before... so somewhere you can make that choice...

After you Make a Selection from your path go to Select>Inverse or Shift+CTRL+I (not sure Mac equivalent)
I am not aware of any option to set a default for this process for inside/outside selection

Thanks, but i know how to inverse the selection- it is about the default… is your default inside or outside?

AFAIK, the default is the default and AFAIK, it isn't 'inside or outside", it is the selection. But anyway: once you make the selection, you'll have to modify it using the "Select>Modify" options below. There you can decide by a pixel value inside or outside.

When you select the pen tool, look in the option bar for the Path Operation options. It is likely you are in "Substract from Shape" mode, which creates the selection outside of your path.
Combine, Intersect and Overlap will create the selection inside your path. See attached image below.

That is it!... stupid i have not noticed that before!
now i see i need to choose the upper item

Sorry should have mentioned it is about closed paths.
