Hi Rajan and John R, and thank you for your comments. I use black velvet and a careful placement of flashes, flags, and reflectors. This photo took 2+ hours of fooling around with lighting (due to my lack of experience), and then another bulk of time with the focus stack. I'm glad you like it.

Yes, well worth the effort. Those rich and warm colors and curling effect are wonderful.
