We’ve been watching a lot of the Perspective BBC youtube channel videos by Waldemar Januszczak. This latest one is Art of the Night and is an analysis of several works of art depicting night scenes. The entire show may not be of interest to you but the segment from 42:00 to 48:00 is about an American B&W photographer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._Winston_Link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._Winston_Link)) who shot a lot of night train scenes.
