A novel set in Iceland by an Icelandic author. . Won the Nobel Prize.
Never knew of it til recently.
Curious if anyone here has read it.

Yes, I read Independent People and the struggles of the farmer Bjartur long ago. Perhaps I should re-read it.

Halldór's home Gljúfrasteinn just outside Reykjavík is open to visitors and features a very nice guided tour -

Thanks, John.

Those are older houses mostly dating from the 1950s and 60s. Each typically features 4 apartments, 2 per floor.

Yes, in the winter months of Dec & Jan when the sun stays close to the horizon, we often get this kind of light.
