Title: 28-75 replacement

You also may want to have a look at the 24-105 f/4 IS. It is lighter and has IS. Do a search on the forum, you'll find varied opinions but both the 24-70 and the 24-105 are great lenses.

Post by: Ben Rubinstein on January 09, 2007, 04:19:36 pm: Just got my 24-70L back from CPS for the 6th time. I think that finally they have fixed the misaligned element and the back focus. It's an absolutely incredible lens with a unique ability to cover WA to early telephoto in a super sharp and fast package. It beats both my 50mm 1.8 and 1.4 and has contrast that makes even the 70-200 f4L look humble. But as mine and many others experience has shown, test the hell out of it and make sure you get a good one or you are in for serious headaches as you see how good the lens is - when it actually focuses correctly!

p.s. I tried the 24-105L, distortion and vignetting up to 40mm is really horrible even at f5.6! You will need DXO or PTLENS and if you are shooting weddings like me where you need to fix hundreds of images...

I got it a few days ago and cannot say anything other than so far, so good. May I ask a polite quetion please: If you were happy with it before why not simply replace it one for one?

If you have some doubts, I can say that the Canon 24-70 L lens is extremely large and heavy. That may or may not matter to you though. It does to me.

So I was rather unhappy at the time. Take my post here as being an indication of that.

The build quality of the lens is less than stellar. (In retrospect, however, the camera and lens did fall farther than I thought at the time.) But optically it is truly wonderful.

I paid $140 or so to get it fixed by Tamron. I'm not sure it even took 2 weeks to repair. (Including shipping time.) Works great. They did an adjustment and I think it might be sharper than it was before the incident. (I could also be crazy.)

Just bought the Tamron 17-50 f2.8. I like the 28-75 a lot. I like the 17-50 more.
