Title: Deepdale

First post in a while. The forecast promised snow allied to strong winds and sub zero temperatures so wrapped up well and went for a walk in this Scottishlike (not a real word) valley in the North of England. I need to get warmer gloves and return if we ever manage to get more snow. Ken

Both images are wonderful and perfectly executed. The light is just perfect for this winter landscape.

Yes it's the first one by a nose for me too.

Very nice processing you have done there Ken, that really brings out the dramatic light throughout the scene - it's a real corker.

A fine landscape! ;I like the first best, for the doom sky fits better with the foreground.
but i find the development a bit overprocessed looking and don't like the lighter rim of sky near the mountain edge... easely fixed

Hi kers
I do agree about the overprocessing especially the mountain and sky, perhaps not as easily fixed as you state. Unfortunately there was an almost permanent haze over the sky almost 100% humidity and frequent, unmoving very light snow/ hail showers. It would neither get thicker giving me lots more atmosphere and mood nor disappear allowing the crags to stand out. I have used a lot of dehaze/ clarity to try and rescue the image and this has produced the large radius halo on the left hand skyline. Looking at the original full sized image shows some tiny sharpening halos and they are trivial to remove but the left hand side would require major work that the image doesn't warrent. I have visited this location many times and will do so again next winter hoping for lots of water in the beck, snow on the hills and a clear atmosphere, until then I will play with the files and my limited photoshop skills. An earlier image taken as I walked into the valley with a snow shower just about to hit and me hoping that these conditions would last. Ken
