This 25 min show is an episode of Passe-Moi les Jumelles, a program from RTS (Radio Télévision Suisse) that does short bios on artists, artisanal cheese or beer makers, etc., in various places around the country. The program is in French, no English subtitles, sorry. As an example of its eclectic subject matter, one episode was about a guy with who makes deliveries of artisanal beer by ox. He and the ox walk this circuit every week or so, 10-15 km?, sleeps in tents and people he knows along the way allow the ox to graze in their fields overnight. Another show was about a daredevil extreme skier who climbs Alpine peaks and then descends near vertical slopes on skis while friends video him. Another show was about a lady who trains cows for use in movies.
But this episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjsEYti4w1I (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjsEYti4w1I) is about a retired civil servant who took up smart phone photography and goes around his town taking abstract close-ups of his environment. You can fast forward to the bits showing the pics. He has gallery representation and sells well, it seems. You’ll only get this part if you understand French but his titles for the pictures are off the wall bizarre. Titles like, “Walking through the mist of an 18th century novel” (I made that one up) or things similar, which he makes up and that have nothing obvious to do with the image. The guy is kind of funny, and the pictures are surprisingly fun to look at.

Superb. We should all be as lucky as this guy.
The smartphone combined with a clear eye for colour, shape and detail is a powerful combination.
Might be a good idea to cross-post this in the abstracts thread. John R would enjoy this.
