A second look at the image of the dead Clematis flower (originally posted here as "Somber"), this time B/W in a square format. Thank you for taking the time to view and comment.

It is an entirely different image, but it still carries that deeply somber feeling very well.

Now, for me, this is somewhat more grotesque. It seems to lack the gentleness of the color version. Could be just me.
Technique, tonality: very good. Just a different mood. For me.

Eric's right. This is an entirely different image. My preference is for the colour version by far for it has already fixed in my mind the 'sombre' theme.
