Title: QImage One vs Epson Print Layout for Epson P900

Hi all,

I am planning to purchase the Epson P900 to print images edited using Capture One 21 on my iMac 2020, and in preparation of that, I am wondering whether I should buy QImage One to complement Epson Print Layout.

Based on what I have read in different articles and fora, it seems it may be easier and yield better results (especially in the areas of resizing and resampling as well as output sharpening) to send a 16 bit Pro Photo RGB TIFF from Capture One to QImage One rather than resizing and applying output sharpening in Capture One and sending that TIFF to Epson Print Layout.

And from what I understand the superb Epson ABW mode for B&W printing should also be available in QImage One as the latter builds upon the Epson print driver.

Any thoughts and experiences will be very much welcome.

Excellent combo; Qimage sharpening is what makes it “the bomb” while EPL is the way to deal with neutral B&W.

Thank you very much. If I’m not mistaken, B&W printing through EPL would then NOT involve QImage One, correct? So resizing and output sharpening would need to be done in C1 in my case. Or does EPL offer a decent resizing and output sharpening algorithm? Or can I pass on a resized and output sharpened image from QImage One to EPL?
Well, I guess I’ll find out latest once I have purchased all this stuff. :-)

So first, I'm using the Mac product which is Qimage One. I only mention this, knowing you're on a Mac too in case this may differ from the other product under Windows.
You should be able to use both as according to the manual:
You can export images to Qimage One for printing from within any share-enabled macOS application. This includes Photos, Preview, Finder and other programs.
Don't use C1, can't comment about that part of the process but again, it should work.

In Qimage you can "Print to File".
