Eric, looks like you were at Þingvellir. You were fortunate to experience wild Iceland in an era when the only paved roads in the country were within Reykjavík.

Very true: The Ring Road had just been completed (not paved, of course), but few Icelanders seemed to be trying it out yet.
Yes, that was at Þingvellir. I believe the American plate was on our left and the European on our right.
