Title: Viewing Wall Color and Metallic Paint

I am redoing my studio and am considering painting one wall with magnetic paint so that I can easily mount prints for viewing with magnetic push pins. Any experience with metallic paint? And what color is best for a viewing wall - medium gray?

I researched this years ago and could not find a paint that  worked well enough.   I ended up with LARGE magnetic panels, in a color called “city gray” from a place called Diamond Life.

Andrew, you recommended paint from gti for the walls of my studio. There are six shades on the website - which one do you recommend? Also, may I use an equivalent shade of gray in a commonly-used brand, such as Benjamin Moore, or is there something about using that brand of paint that is important? I appreciate your advice.

Pick any of the paints you wish that are (ideally) spectrally neutral. That's the key.

Thanks for that link to KJmagnets.  I've used Amazing Magnets but they don't sell tacks (I used their small pawns).

For anyone who feels like a DIY option I've been buying sheet metal from Online Metals for an Iron Art project.  They sell large sheets and their prices and shipping in the US are pretty reasonable.  Finish and edge finish may not meet your requirements if you want perfection mind you (I've been buying cold rolled carbon steel and the rougher the better).  Also of course priming (v. important) and painting will be up to you.  I have some galvanized steel sheets on order so will be able to see what the finish is like in a few days.
