Title: z3100 fresh install - cant sync papers

I have just installed the HP utility on a fresh windows installation, and I've added my z3100 (non ps) printer

I can see the printer in the utility, see ink levels, loaded paper etc.

But what I cant do is sync the papers from my printer to my new windows installation. The option is greyed out.
its been a very long time since I installed the z3100 drivers, but looking at HP site, I have to go back to windows 8 OS to get the driver downloads.

However, there isnt an installer for the z3100 photo raster driver - only installers for the z3100ps version.
How do I manually install the drivers for the z3100 these days?

update, after installing the driver, the sync button is no longer greyed out, but when trying to update it just hangs and then returns "Device may be offline or disconnected at this time. Check the status of your device and try again"

very strange

I updated the firmware (to the same version that was already on the printer) and now it's synced the custom papers fine
