Indeed the iPad can do a lot, but it is crippled with iPadOS;

Apple decided to give the iMac a powercord that is magnetic...
Why would a desktop need a magnetic powercord? It is the ipad/laptop that can use one...

I'll 2nd kers comment about iPad being crippled by the OS. I recently needed something for tethered shooting on location. Longtime PC user, but was absolutely open to purchasing an iPad Pro; however, the tethering software was only available for macOS or PC. Purchased an HP Spectre 360 instead. Dual boot idea is a great thought. Maybe that's feasible with the new M1 iPad's.

I think the transformer is housed in the cord. There isn't enough room for it in the very thin body of the computer. Whether Apple's obsession with slimness is a good thing is a different topic.

S
