Title: Time Machine

I put a lot of files on my laptop, and then ran Time Machine which used a spinning disc portable HD.  After leaving it all night with settings to stop it pausing when it went to sleep, it was still in progress!  I changed the HD for a Sandisk SSD and, bingo, it finished in well under an hour. 

Learning curve for me; it is another illustration of the speed advantage of SSD.

Yes, TM read and write is very slow with a massive number of files. Trying to clone a TM from drive to drive can seem to take forever.

One more reason to use another method.
