Today, just outside of one of our multiplying Covid units

Well done, Armand.

+1. I wonder if cropping off the left half would make an interesting abstract, keeping the right half, with those rays of gray coming from its left center? Just a thought.

Well done, Armand.
Thank you David! It fit with the mood at that time, people just don't do so great once they reach the ICU despite what others might think.

Thank you Bob! I intentionally framed it like this, an opposition between the gloomy rain on the black background, suggesting tears, and the brighter and slightly more hopeful left side.
Keeping just the right side would make for a nice abstract but quite different that what I wanted in this. Those rays are just lighter colored bricks.

I'm going to continue on this thread with some therapeutic snaps taken while working. It takes me 10 sec but gives me a mild reset and makes it easier to keep going.
All (including the first post) shot on the new iPhone 12 Pro Max, my first iPhone for whatever it's worth.

STOP - towards one of the makeshift Covid ICUs
Excellent.
It occurs to me that—for obvious reasons—there is a limited amount of competent photography that is publicly available from inside hospitals that are treating COVID-19 infections. I understand the privacy considerations that would restrict your access to patients, but I hope you will keep shooting as circumstances allow, perhaps including some snaps of any of your colleagues who are willing to be photographed in situ. We need a documentary image record of this extraordinary moment.
At the risk of incurring the wrath of el moderador, I think it's worth noting that doctors and other medical professionals on the front lines are (mostly) able to keep themselves safe by following precautionary protocols that are available to all of us. I can only imagine the stress you and your colleagues are experiencing as you try to save lives while dealing with the intake of patients who would never have been infected if they had followed the recommendations of the medical professionals.

Thank you Chris!
I'm not sure that I want to expand this beyond random snaps. In a day I'll start a pretty long stretch anyway and we are getting Covid numbers that in the spring we were nowhere near, so I'm not sure I'll have the energy to post that often. We'll see.

These are wonderful, Armand.
I read somewhere recently that one sad situation that medical professionals are seeing more of is patients dying from Covid-199 who still steadfastly believe that the disease doesn't exist! So sad and discouraging.

Thank you Eric!

Early

Late

Armand, I really admire the tonal values, colour and graphic elements in 'Early' and 'Late' but there seems to be some strange (perspective adjustment?) issues.
I also really admire those who are potentially putting their lives on the line in the course of caring for others during this pandemic.
Thank you and well done!

Yes, it's some basic perspective adjustment (I made parallel the straight lines closest to the edge).
This is how it would look with just straightening, no perspective adjustment.

Armand, I wonder if it would be better without straightening and perspective adjustment. Perhaps just a crop could help things? I'm having difficulty imagining how it was out-of-camera.
-
Possibly, but I wouldn't leave it without some straightening at least. Anyway, this is how it looks straight out the camera, iPhone 12 Pro Max main camera, 26 mm equiv.

Same spot but even later, with the telephoto lens, 65 mm equiv.

-
I still don't understand the tower building in the out-of-camera shot.
Weirder and weirder.
-
Sorry, I just looked at the exif, it was actually the extra wide camera (13-14 mm equiv) and not the normal wide (equiv 26 mm), so what you see it might be the lens distortion.
-
Distortion aside, it is a lovely series.
-
Armand, I thought I'd have a look in ACR to see if there was an auto profile correction I could apply to the image but alas there's not. I've had a go at correcting the image manually and it's an improvement but I won't post the result here unless I have your permission to do so.
Best.

I don't care although the distortion doesn't really bother me.

Armand, below is the the quick attempt I had at reducing the distortion.

As I said earlier, it is a fine series.

This one. Emotionally powerful.
