Very nice (both) but the river level seems very low.

Yes, this was taken some 4 weeks ago towards the end of summer. It is a river originating from a small glacier. Following Spring the flow must get rather large (after all, the waterfall's name literally translates to Big Waterfall).

Lovely shots, Rajan. From the looks of the river's valley I'd guess it's been eroding the landscape for a long, long time.

Russ, it is a glacial valley carved by retreating glaciers. The river drains into a fjord. If you hike around 20 Kms further up the valley, you get to Vatnajökull, the largest icecap (by volume) in Europe.
