Title: Skin Smoother filter recommendation needed
Post by: kevs on August 15, 2020, 12:32:19 am
I used Imagenomic's POrtraiture for years and it was great. And customer service (George ) was great.

It seem their prices have quadrupled and there is no customer support whatsoever at all anymore Not even for sales!. Real shame.  Were they bought out by some robot company or something?

Anyway, please send other options, thanks!

I don't do a lot of portrait work, but when necessary I will often use a Frequency Separation procedure as explained by Aaron at https://phlearn.com/.  It definitely does the job very well, but as Aaron mentions, be aware of going too far and getting an artificial look on the skin.  This is the link to the video on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldhG9fmgC7o.  Download the vid and you'll be able to access it anytime.  Not sure about this, but at one time you could also download an Action for this procedure from the Phlearn site.  Along with the vid it's a good way to get started.

Hope this helps  :)

Thanks DP have you used portraitpro? I think I've heard of it, been around long time..? and you like it? Did you know imagenomic and any idea what happened to them? They don't answer any communications anymore.'

Rajan, never heard of deliction, same questions...

Garner, thanks, this has nothing to do with portrait work, actually beauty work, not looking for a free photoshop workaround just something to replace the Imagenomic which seem to be out of business now even though one can still download the tool at very high price and then no sales or tech support anymore appearntly.

I have both Imagenomic Portraiture and Delicious Retouch. I prefer the latter. You can download a trial version and see for yourself if it suits your needs.

I used Imagenomic Portaiture time ago (4-5 years ?) and then I switched to Anthropics' PortraitPro - it is quite  OK once you create your own presets (with a lot of face sculpting turned off and sufficiently tuned down skin corrections, because they can be too high and make skin too plastic - so as you probably understand never use their default settings to judge what it does) as starting points... I do not want to spend a lot of time retouching and PortraitPro does what I need

Thanks DP, with Imagenomic, George made some preset for me but really I think the default was fine and then it's on its own layer and your bring opacity down to 20 to 40%. Same with with Portrait Pro, on it's own layer?  Do you have a preset I can see or maybe send screenshot?  And idea what happened to Imagenomic? And why did you switch?

it is working as filter in PS and you can of course have it in a layer if you wish ... you can download trial and test

no. I stopped using Imagenomic ~4-5 years ago

PortaitPro was/is also allowing to do a lot of other things than just skin all in one filter (eyes, lips, teeth, etc) even if you don't sculpt the face form in it (like nose or chin, etc)

they even have a forum (not huge of course) on their site = http://forum.portraitprofessional.com/

sounds that PS can't find PPro plug-in...  can you run a stand alone PPro application ?

and then run installer

Ok DP, lot more mediocre way to have plug in no?

PS seems to find everything else: Nik, Exposure, Imagencic, etc.

Pity, that Imagenic is 4x cost should be  (not sure if they give break for older customers website does not say), and seems to be moot point as they do not reply to anything, not even sales questions.

I never had any issues, so I can't comment about your setup - I suggest you to try to run plug-in installer (again) and may be take screenshots or record video of what will happen... then try to run PPro from within PS on some image... it will also help if u mention your version of PS, etc ... I am on Windows btw

Got a reply, good, but still stuck, bends mind, developer spend billion hours on software and hot have ability to send screenshot in ticket only area ( no normal emails allowed which are 10x easier to deal with.

Unfathomable: (going read 10 lines of text to send image?)  Help get my head around that DP?  Even after all that can't send as no email to send to wetransfer requires normal email.

- Go to https://wetransfer.com/
- Click 'Add Your Files' and select the files you wish to transfer.
- In 'Message' write your name and Ticket number.
- Click the circle with three dots (...) next to the Transfer button.
- Choose 'Link'
- Click Transfer. Your files will be uploaded and a link will be created.
- Click the link and it will copy automatically.
- Now return to this support ticket and create a new reply. With your mouse, right click and choose 'Paste' to paste the link into your reply.

PS I guess no market for skin smoothing, so have Imagenic overcharges  and does not reply to even sales questions?

Help get my head around that DP?

alternatively may be trial version does not work as a filter and only as a standalone version ? I can't comment on that because I use a non trial Studio Edition

in any case - man up, solve your problem or move to a different software  :)

and hot have ability to send screenshot in ticket only area

What prevents you from uploading whatever you want to some file-sharing site and include the link to that file, image in the message to support ? so you can whine about stuff or you can try to think a sec about a solution ...

"What prevents you from uploading whatever you want to some file-sharing site and include the link to that file"

Thanks what I did here in this forum which also does not have strangely a file upload.  But just jarred by the 10 line instructions in the ticket about wetranswer, never seen to much text about getting a screenshot to a developer, really bizarre.

That said, I just tested the software in standalone. Look very cool. Thanks DP. But needs to be on a seperate layer in PS, so keep plugging along see if they can solve this.  Not at first base yet in PS. chokes right away.. puzzling.

Update, I settled on Portrait Pro, but endless glithes with installing and getting to work as PHotoshop plug, so after two months and 50 back and forth emails on ticket, still no there.

(one phone call would knock it out, but they wont call.)

Anyone know where Anthopics bases? They claim in ticket UK, but

support is so incompetent, 3 months in and still cannot get plug in to work in photoshop,  Anyone know?

100 back forths.. one call could solved it. all
