Doesn't look as if it's the lake that's dying.

Russ, I chose this title so that the viewer might be curious enough to find out what it references. Not sure if it works or not.
Francois, it looks bird-like to me, too. Like an Anhinga holding out its wings to dry them.

How come they didn't fall down when they died? Surely, you can't turn to stone that fast unless you're sombody's wife!
