Hello all,
I've seen a similar procedure here on LuLa a long time ago, but just want to refresh my memory. I'd like to get a poll of sorts if possible. I'm using an Epson SC-P7000 and as usual, Epson printers seem to be rather thirsty for ink when in many cases I believe it is not necessary at all. I've had the P7000 for more than 2 years and have recently adopted a procedure that seems to be working quite well to bypass the cleaning cycle at start-up, especially in the dry winter months. That used to happen quite frequently even though I have Auto Cleans shut OFF. I am now using this method to overcome the Auto CC. Even if I have no printing to do on a particular day, I always start up the printer and run a Nozzle Check. If all channels are good I then run a "Cleaning" Image that uses all channels. So far this procedure has been able to get me through the past few months without any Auto Cleans at start-up. I usually start-up in mid morning and leave it turned on for the 8 hour period I have chosen, and this also seems to be a good addition to help bypassing the Auto CC at start-up, which I believe is due to the head being seated on the cleaning station for a longer period of time. If others are using a version of this procedure I'd like to get some feed back as to their success rate.

P8000 here. We leave ours on all the time with auto clean turned off.
Just about every time before printing I run a nozzle check.
I might need a pairs clean 1 out of 10 times.
