Title: Interesting new macro lens with long working distance

Available in many different mounts, has a nice working distance, 10" at 1x and almost 4" at 5x. Hopefully it is good optically.

And it's my understanding that there is a fixed optical relationship between focal length, subject-lens distance, and lens-film distance.

The reproduction ratio of the Mitakon goes from 1:1 to the maximum of 5:1, the maximum reproduction ratio of the Voigtländer is 1:1.

For 5x macro, this Mitakon lens should have d = 85mm (1+1/5) = 102mm, and the Canon d = 65mm (1+1/5) = 78mm.

Mind you, these measurements should be taken from the front nodal point, not from the front of the lens, but that maintains the same correlation as the working distance. Longer lens means longer working distance.

And I quote: “ Wide open, it’s… it’s the worst macro lens I have ever tested. By a large margin. It’s foggy, blurry, hazy, and just wrong.“ . . . “ Even when stopped down, it’s still the worst lens . . .”

Enough said, I think. A $500 paper weight or door stop.
