There is a touch of La Dolce Vita and Antonioni's Deserto Rosso going on here; colour, yes, as with the latter, but the same sense of extra-urban industrial infrastructure also comes into play in the Fellini opus which was in black and white. I feel a sense of humanity surrounded by its constructs, not necessarily threatened by them, but inevitably never free of them either, as if its very access to movement is only permissible courtesy all these insensate blocks and pourings of concrete. In other words, there's no way out except for the grace of these structures. We have made both our vulnerable escape tunnels as we have our confinements.

As Catalonian protests have shown, motorways can lock you in as well as liberate you.

I enjoy pictures that can make one think.
