I need some help troubleshooting an odd problem. I often print large images (e.g. 20x30") on my Epson 7900 on roll paper. But suddenly, these prints are not printing at the correct size, but instead very small (approximately 33% of the specified size) within the print area. This happens with any print I make on roll paper — prints on sheets work fine. These are files and sizes I have printed a ton, using the settings in Photoshop and for the printer I have used for years, and I have never run into this glitch before.
My setup
- Mac OS 10.13.6 (which I have upgraded, see below)
- Epson 7900 with driver 9.33
- Photoshop CC (v20.0.5)
- This all seemed to have started after I had to replace my startup drive, which required that I reinstall the OS (10.13.6) and then migrate my content to the new drive.
The details of the problem:
I printing 20x30" image from Photoshop (or Lightroom) onto a 24" roll paper, with the paper size set to 24" x 34".
When it prints, the image comes out around 6.6" x 9.8" in size, within the 24" x 34" space (so a ton of empty space around it).
What I've tried:
(1) Printing to sheets (with the same files) works normally.
(2) If I boot off my old system drive (which now in an external enclosure), I can print with no problems.
(3) I have double-checked all my settings, and they are exactly what has worked in the past, for example:[/li][/list]
- paper size is custom size (24x34, 0" margins)
- page setup = "roll paper" (not borderless, etc.)
- color handling = Photoshop, with profile = epson's default for the paper (getting same problem using hot press bright and Enhanced Matte)
- Photoshop's print position and size confirmed: 100%, 20" x 30", with scale to media off.
(4) I have reset Apple's printing system, then followed Epson's advice (https://epson.com/support/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-your-mac-printer-driver) to remove the existing Epson drivers and reinstall the latest ones downloaded from their website (driver v9.33).
(5) I upgraded to OS 10.14.5, and repeated step #4 above
Any ideas? I'm sure I am missing something really obvious and stupid thing — at least I am hoping it is. Thank you!
