Extraordinary picture, Slobodan, and an interesting, well written story.

What sketches? I went through all the threads, found nothing. Finally I realized the comments are in the 'about this site', thread section...so did Slobodan write something? Sure enough, I find this article about that fantastic and intriguing fresco that he posted earlier in another thread. Well written and very interesting. It tells me as much about him and how he felt amid the ruins, as it does about how he photographed the fresco. The fresco reminds me of the ruins of Egypt, Rome and Greece - and they are still standing. If you want something to go with this beautiful fresco surrounded by destruction, may I suggest, music by the immortal Beethoven, 'the Turkish March', from the Opera, Ruins of Athens.

Very dramatic shot.  I like the processing and story too ...

I find the fresco is very beautiful. A beauty only enhanced by its context and environment as described. Slobodan's description of it and the area and the process is illuminating and instructive perhaps, but much more it resonates particularly with me as an aging man. I too find myself appreciating the contradictory beauty of decay as I age - an appreciation which when younger I bypassed unaware.

A beautiful image and an interesting article. More such please.

Yes, you are right, I was thinking of something else I read and mixed things up.

No worries. Apologies for my grumpy response.

Plus One to that.  I have been very negative, even rude, in my views on recent essays on the main site but this is the exact opposite, the sort of informative background to the picture displayed that adds to its interest.

The image is superb and the essay shows that Slobodan is also an excellent writer.

Very nice work, Slobodan.  And with an iPhone no less.  But my favorite is still your Havana iPhone image through the windshield!
