Good set, #2 seems more novel to me. Great textures, wonderful colours, and the shadows lend an extra layer of dimensionality.

On the whole, it's a nice set. But I am trying to decide if like no-2. I usually avoid images with so much shadow.

Thanks to all for your varied comments. 
John  - I deliberately chose to work with the shadows in #2.  Perhaps they distract but I was aiming for a less direct element with pattern not attributable to the subject itself to add a little bit of the less tangible.
