Title: Along the River Lyn
Post by: Chairman Bill on November 11, 2018, 02:42:17 pm
The Lyn flows off of Exmoor and into the sea at Lynmouth. The East & West Lyn join at Watersmeet. We walked from about a mile above Watersmeet, following the river down into Lynmouth, and then back again. About five miles or so. Beautiful autumn colours and plenty of water in the river.

Thanks for the positive comments. We have all sorts of landscapes in Britain. Lots of coastline, lots of mountains, moorland, heathland, flat places, hilly places, wetlands, agricultural land, towns, cities ... all sorts. And we have rivers too :-) Not quite sure what people expect.

We had some Australian friends come here to stay with us many years ago, and they were quite shocked to discover that the entire UK didn't look a scene from Coronation Street or something, you know back-to-back houses, grey skies, men in flat caps walking their whippets to the ale house, women in curlers, thick Dickensian style fog and a general image of post war destruction and decay. They really found it hard to believe we had so much open rolling hills and scenery and forests etc and detached houses and lots of shops selling bars of soap etc..

Nice shots Bill, unfortunately the high winds have nicked all our autumn colour up in Scotland this year - again...

Dave, outside of sheltered valleys, Exmoor has lost its colour to the winds too.

Nice riverscapes!  It is good to see your pockets of paradise.
