Title: First camera with Sony 100MP BSI 44x33mm sensor: "mirrorless" from Phase One

Sony's new  BSI 100MP 44x33mm sensor has arrived. As expected, it is in a mirrorless system; as was maybe not expected, it is from Phase One, for using on drones: https://industrial.phaseone.com/iXM_Camera_Series.aspx

So I expect these new sensors to arrive this summer in cameras for ground-based photographers.

Aside: so far, mirrorless MF is all 44x33mm, with lenses designed around that format, while 54x40mm is staying with SLRs, and conversely, almost all MF SLR lenses are designed for roughly that format. So 44x33mm SLRs are the last true "crop cameras" (meaning cameras that rely heavily on using lenses designed for a larger format, as opposed to cameras that have a reasonably extensive lens system designed for their sensor format, even if they can also use lenses designed for a larger format). I am guessing that this divide will persist, with mirrorless 44x33mm format gradually becoming good enough for virtually all of the photography that needs medium format at all, and 54x40mm SLRs handing the remaining larger format niche. Meaning that 44x33mm backs for MF bodies might start to fade away.

Thanks for the link. For some reason, a thread about the number of Phase One backs for sale second hand is not where I went looking for this news (and is not one that I found worth persevering with to Reply #68 !).

But while you are here: do you have any hints about a "hand-holdable" mirrorless camera system from Phase One?! Or is the company all-in on the "flying tripod" approach?
