Too saturated, at least on my display. Doesn't look real. Everything else lovely.

You've infected me, Kevin. That's what a few days in your company can do to people, it seems.
JNB, I looked at it in B&W, which generally I like a lot, but for this shot it didn't seem to me to work.
Peter, you might have a point. I'll see what happens if I reduce the blue saturation a bit.

One problem with shots like these is that those of us who have never been to Antarctica try to interpret photos in terms of colours that we are familiar with from less exotic locales. We have a hard time accepting unfamiliar colours.

"Smurfworld" but I like it and don't see it as a true rendition of the scene.

Eric, I think you have a point: the colours were amazing. I kept thinking of Royal Blue ink, which I used at school.
How about this, then?

That works for me, but my recollections of Antarctic blue are pretty hazy, since I've never been there (at least in this incarnation.)

I initially read this as anarchic blue…which depending on one's taste might be appropriate. ;)
(A friend of a friend went to Antarctica a couple years ago. She says in the right light the ice can be intensely blue. Also, I remember Michael getting quite irked years ago over someone's photos that were processed to make the locale look dark and grey-ish.)
