Title: blue hour

Don't know whether it qualifies for a real landscape, but I think I show it anyway. View large!
As it seems to me, its dusk or dawn about the whole, short day right now, that's what landscapes look like, too often for my taste, right now. Although it got its own beauty.

I love the two dead trees with the bird in the middle of them.  Can you bring the shadows up a bit?

I tried a lot with those deep shadows, it's not easy to get them right. I tried them even darker (basically it becomes a solid black area fast) and also with pulled shadows -- but then the hundreds of limbs and trees become _very_ busy and destroy or at least disturb the big shapes of the picture. I'll have a look later - maybe today, maybe tomorrow, I'm about to go get some mulled wine on the christmas market nearby ;-)
Probably best would be to partially lighten the dead trees and the area with the bird. Will try.

Played with this one a little (of course!) and have decided I like it as is. IMO too much shadow detail detracts from the photo's tonal impact.

Here's a modified version, or rather a completely new edit. I found for me, often, when lighten (or darken) some areas the whole thing needs to be reedited soon -- so I just started again from zero.
It's overall lighter, I think still dark enough to have the same mood.
