Title: hand coloring inkjet prints
Post by: hacimd on October 03, 2017, 10:08:18 am
Hello,  Wondering if anyone could suggest some type of spray or brush on material that would allow for hand coloring ink jet prints.  Also interested in any types of techniques/treatments that would allow you to dye ink jet prints.  I know it would probably be pretty limited because ink jet prints are water based pigments.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Although the pigment inks are water based, once they are dry, they are water-fast.  Kind of like the water based latex paints in that regard.  So you might have lot more choices than you think.  Never done any painting on an inkjet print, but have dabbled with doing Pt/Pd on top of a pigment print which withstood all the wet processing fine.  The dye based inkjet inks on the other hand are water-soluble after drying so they won't work with water colors, but presumably you could use a proper solvent based paint for it.

Good luck...

I printed for an artist who used accents of gold and silver paints on her originals and then went back in and repainted on the giclees so they sparkled like gold and silver again.
Called them remarks and sold them for more.

Acrylic artists paint like Liquatex or Windsor Newton.
