Title: Reference image does not match color
Post by: nemophoto on February 05, 2017, 12:41:46 pm
I'm working on a number of images for a catalog shoot I just finished. I decided to experiment with the Reference Image function. I worked on one image, then when finished, saved it as the reference image. I then opened another image and applied changes and looking at the Reference, I thought the skintone looked a little green, which I hadn't remembered. I decided to open the original image I worked on used as my Reference image, and sure enough, the Reference did have a greenish cast to the skintones while the original did not. Most of the other colors looked good.

Has anyone come across this issue or something similar?

Are you using the sync function to apply the settings to all images? Make sure all settings are the same, especially the Camera Calibration ones.

There is nothing to sync. I'm dealing with a handful of final images selects. A custom camera profile calibration is applied to all images. But what was significant is that the image used for the Reference didn't match the actual skin tones of the same image when compared. (R vs A).

in answer to your question, I don’t use reference image much, but I did take time to look at about 40 images set at reference side by side with themselves and can see no difference between the two.  This was a mix of landscapes and some portraits, skin tones all matched.

So not sure what is different ...

Nothing helpful to add...wanted to say I love your work, Nemo.

I don't notice anything like that here..

And I'm just spit-balling here..

But perhaps your display is going bad - and one side isn't as uniform??

Try rebuilding image previews, the only thing I can think of is that you are looking at different image previews that don't have all the edits applied in the reference image view. If that doesn't fix it I don't know what it could be, I tried many photos as reference and have noticed no issues at all.

Maybe a rendering problem if you are using your video card acceleration?

I'm pretty sure the develop module does not utilize the prebuilt image previews.
