Title: refurbshing a Leica S2

If there are serious scratches and wear to the top plate can the factory refurbish it?

I would guess so, why don't you give them a call?
Question is how important do you feel un impeccable outside really is, I wouldn't be surprised if the camera would be out off your hands for at least one month. One could make a lot of nice images during that time, it is a great image making machine!
