The new article just posted by Wenjie Qiao about photographing the moon and his app is just fantastic.  A huge amount of work obviously went into the app, and also, I understand how much work went into writing the article and including all of the images and app screen shots.  Thank you so much.

Looks like a cool app. I've been using an app combo, The Photographer's Ephemeris and Sky & Telescope's SkyWeek +, for this stuff. An all-in-one should be handier…must check it out.

(Attached pic: the Moon & Jupiter conjunction on July 8. I used the app combo to choose a workable camera location in my tree-filled, lower-sky-obscuring neighborhood.)

Good article! I like that he is concentrating on the moon AND the landscape. Moon-only photos get tiresome quickly!
I'll have to check the app out. I use TPE mostly and it's been good but I always like to check out the latest tools if I can.

I used TPE to figure this one out for the July 8 Jupiter and moon conjunction. (and broke my camera moments later)

I have been using his app for sometime now. The best I have seen for planning shots. In fact he came and spoke to the local astroimaging group I run. He has put a lot of work in the app. I have mentioned it in other threads before, nice that there is an article about it. I hope people do try it out, the price is very reasonable for what it does. Nice that it is also on both platforms.

As one who was born and raised in San Diego, though left before the downtown skyline was built, it was nice to see some wonderful images from my home town.  Well done and thanks for the thorough write up.  I'm going to check out the app.

Nice article and good app. Here are this July's full moon shot in the SF Bay Area and Moon over El Capitan (moon photoshopped in) shot years ago:

Both shots Canon EOS 5D. Moon shot with 200mm FL on a monopod.
