They've been doing it since pre-history which, of course, is why they can be so good at it. And if they don't turn to stone, they just shrivel away in shame.

Hail the Medusa Weapon, which explains why the Brit. Army is now allowing them into the front line battle zones. Cheaper than bullets, and post-Brexit we need all the savings we can get!
