First off, I only shoot raw and not Raw + jpeg so I don't know how this is going to work.
My daughter recently returned from a 2 week trip and (despite my telling not to-I prefer raw) shot 95% raw +jpeg(the last 5% jpeg). She has asked me to "separate" the Jpeg"s and put them on a separate drive for her but I have never done this. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm not going to do any editing for her as she just wants a separated file. She couldn't figure out how with her limited LR skills. Yes she has LR but for some unknown reason is afraid to use it. Thanks to all that reply!

If you have the photos on a Windows machine you can use Explorer view with the "Details" folder option and sort the files by "type". Then just select the .jpg files and copy them to where ever you want them.

Yes it is windows 7. I do run LR but I'm so use to injesting raw right away that I'll have to look at what you mention. It's been a few months since I've done any editing but am getting a lot of requests from others but my daughter comes first :D

In LR, in Preferences-General, make sure you have 'Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as separate photos' turned on so you can do different actions on them.

And then set the view sort to "by file type"

Ok, I set the preferences in LR as suggested and downloaded the 1st card and now have a file of both raw & jpegs. How do I get only the Jpegs? Should I uncheck all the raw files before importing them?

If I understood correctly your first post, you are not going to do any processing and you just want to store the jpegs on a different drive. If this is right, then you don't need to import the images in LR.
If you have the raw and jpegs in a folder, you can order by file type in windows explorer, select the jpegs and copy them to the destination drive / folder
If you still want to import them to LR (for cataloging, slide show, etc) you can uncheck the raw files, but it will be time consuming since the LR import dialog is very limited and does not have an option to sort by file type. Another option is to import everything and then filter by file type in the library, select jpeg, and export them as "Original" to your desired destination

I only imported 1 of 6 cards through LR onto a different drive so the images, both raw & jpegs are in a folder on that drive. I can access that through win explorer & I see the raw files, the XMP files & jpeg files. This 1st card is just a test so I know what to do. How do I get only the jpegs? Do I go through & just delete the raw & XMP files (very time consuming)? I know there has to be a simpler way, but I just don't see it at this point. Once I find out I'll be able to get the rest of the cards taken care of.

If you already imported the files in LR then you can:
- In the library module select the grid view
- Make sure you have enabled the filter bar (Menu: View -> Show Filter Bar - refer to the first attached image). Then click on the "Metadata" tab
- If you dont have it enabled, add a column by clicking on the small menu on the top right of any existing filter as in the second attached image and select "Add Column"
- Then select "File type" as in the third image
- If you click on "Raw", you can then select all the images with CTRL + A and remove the images. You can't see the XMP files in LR, but when you delete a raw file, LR will delete also the associated XMP
Option 2 (if you want to keep the raw files)
- Click on JPEG, select all with CTRL+A and export them as "Original" to another folder

No need to import them from the cards in Windows.
Use windows explorer to view the contents of the card
Use the details view and sort by file type
Select all the jpgs and right click on the selected files and chose copy
Select the folder where you want the jpgs and paste the selected files to the new folder.
By using copy/paste you still have the original files on the card.
Don't drag and drop the selected files to the new folder because this will move them to the new folder and delete them from the card.

Basic sorting and copying in operating system file view window (why would anybody need a Lightroom for this?): sort the files either by type or size (RAWs are big, JPEGs small, they will form two distinct groups), then just copy those as two separate groups to where ever needed.
