Is there an easy and painless way to convert my web site to html5?
I'm still missing the older and neater linking to web sites.

Depending on how you've set up the webpage, in HTML5 it's pretty straightforward.

Thanks for your help. My web sites have always been as much about professional development as photography. My main site is Dreamweaver "Spry" based and is around ten years old. It only has approximately less than a dozen html pages. However, the site has multiple pages that are generated using a simple html based database process.
The slide shows are created using jAlbum's "BananAlbum" skin. It seems to have become more mobile friendly in the past decade.

I understand the benefits of automation, through scripts, plugins and skins. However, with it comes limitations if the tools are not updated for more recent developments. The automation makes it more difficult to mix and match techniques, but it does save a lot of time not having to code complex things oneself.
The slide shows are created using jAlbum's "BananAlbum" skin. It seems to have become more mobile friendly in the past decade.
Unfortunately, there are a number of comments about it not being updated for a while, which is always a concern if it's a major component of a design. In the past, I've also not been too impressed by the downsampling quality, but I do not know if it has improved or not.
