Title: Lower cost alternatives to the Westcott Flex 1-Light Daylight Kit?
Post by: Bob_B on February 09, 2016, 01:10:33 pm
I've had my eye on the Westcott LED lighting arrays for sometime: bright, good color balance, and compact. I think they'd make great additions for studio macro work. I like everything about these lights, except the price. Even at their current sale price, they're over my budget. I've looked around, but haven't found much alternatives. Anyone have any ideas? Note: I haven't explored DIY, but I guess that could be an alternative.

Thanks,

  Bob

I'd go the DIY route. A colour-neutral, high-power LED torch/flashlight, with a piece of white plastic piping, some gaffer tape & a hacksaw. I'm pretty sure you could knock something together for a fraction of the price.
