Title: DXO and Canon 1Ds2

I have recentlly purchased DXO software mainly in order to correct lense distortions and CA, though it is very slow (2x2.3 Ghz G5 with 5 MB ram) it gives good results but needs to know thru Exif the distance of focus.
Apparently the Canon 1Ds2 body doesn't provide that info into Exif, I can type it manually, but it's just a guess, not very precise nor accurate.
Any idea?

Canon, if you read this, please can you add that info within the next firmware update?

Well,
This is a known issue and Michael wrote about it in his review ([a href=\"http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/software/optics-pro-raw.shtml]here[/url], look for "The Distance Problem"). Additoinally, some lenses do not report distance (ex: EF-85mm f/1.2,   version 2 does).
Let's just hope that Canon will hear you in the next iteration of their cameras?

I'd take a look at PT Lens (http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/), if you haven't already done so.  Pretty good, some people compare it favourably to DXO, and it's free.

Not free anymore but ten bucks is a modest fee for a great product. On the Mac, I paid $40 for the "same" software and I'm also satisfied.

I never could find the way to use and install PTlens on my Mac, even when it was free! Duh!

I agree with Nicolas. I use DXO to not only correct for lens distortions, etc, but have been using it as a RAW converter. It is very annoying to "guess" the focus distance several days after a shoot, for every single frame! C'mon Canon!!!
