Title: Bad color management or conspiracy theory?

Or maybe a bit of both?

Well, it is The Washington Post who are simply Democratic 'operatives' with bylines.  Just like The New York Times.  If you expect 'balanced' (you know, all that stuff we learned in school about impartiality & facts) from them, you'll be disappointed.

so goes /with GOP flavor/ for Fox, Forbes, WSJ, etc.. so what to read w/o ingesting either rightist or leftist fecal matters ?

You read both sides and make up your own mind.

The thing is hardly new. Remember OJ Simpson cover pages?

On a more contemporary note, Trump images are grotesquely unflattering if published by leftist media. Or take the current refugee invasion of Europe (notice how my own choice of words betrays my personal views? ;) ) If illustrated by leftist media, it is mostly of women and children. If illustrated by rightist media, it is mostly an enormous  sea of military-grade males.

Why doesn't this conversation go over to the coffee corner?  Certainly it doesn't belong here.  Hope that one of the Mods is reading this thread.

Why doesn't this conversation go over to the coffee corner?..

Would it be light roast or dark roast coffee?

You read both sides and make up your own mind.

I doubt that reading two false statements will allow you to come to the right conclusion

Why doesn't this conversation go over to the coffee corner?
Because it certainly could be, in some cases, a color management issue. This is after all, the web many of the articles find as the point of transmission, it's the wild west out there in terms of what colors we and other's see.

Do you really believe this tripe? Really? These are two of the most respected newspapers in the world with decades-long and well-deserved reputations for accuracy in reporting. Inaccurate reporting is corrected and incompetent staff are disciplined or fired. But the Rush/Bill crowd of knuckle-draggers doesn't want accurate news, they want the moronic "feel good" crap that is fed to them by these opportunistic "news men" who exploit the simple-minded to line their own pockets.

As was said, by Einstein I believe, "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."

Well, they might not be "operatives".  But their articles in where they physical place them (ie, above or below the fold, front page or on pg 47, etc.)) in the newspapers, which news they emphasize and their tones have always been biased liberal, and for the most part have supported Democrats.  Their news sections follow their opinion section views.  Even accurate news can be biased if it's repeated, highlighted, and given more space than opposite political points.   As a New Yorker who grew up in NYC and who regularly reads the Times, I've witnessed this trend for decades, even as a kid.  I remember them constantly knocking President Eisenhower in the 1950's for all the time he spent golfing and not paying attention to his Presidency.  Of course, you don't read similar complaints from them about Obama.  That's one kind of bias that the Times has specialized in.

Conspiracy theory?

Not at all...it's obvious what is being done to make Obama appear darker skinned. Appealing to the racist tendencies of the GOP.

Calling the GOP racist is a pretty bigoted statement.  Amazing.

The latest example... If you are leftist media, like CNN, you are, naturally, anti-cops and pro-thugs. So, you'd illustrate an article about a statement from a Mississippi councilmen, asking his constituents to "throw rock, bricks and bottles" at police, with a portrait where he looks distinguished and likable. Or you could use a much less flattering picture. Both pictures are, of course, factual, but the context could still be pretty biased.

Already asked (post #5).

I personally think it should, especially now when it is pretty clear it has very little to do with color management. For that to happen, someone need to click on the "report to moderator" button and suggest the move.

Calling the GOP racist is a pretty bigoted statement.  Amazing.

I said the "the racist tendencies of the GOP" and if you don't like the characterization, what do you call it?

I'd call your statement bigoted, the very accusations you're making against the GOP.

I'd call your statement bigoted, the very accusations you're making against the GOP.

And Trump is not the least big "racist"? Surely you jest...

About the only race Trump doesn't go after are WASPs...

:~)

So, are you saying Trump speaks for you?
What about a lot of the Tea Party? Not racist? Not bigoted?

You and I are clearly on opposite side of the equation...

racĀ·ism  (rā′sĭz′əm) n.
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

So, all Mexican illegals are NOT criminal, rapists or drug runners? Muslim refugees are not all IS terrorists? Ya might want to clue in the leading GOP candidate. But hey, you say it's not racist? Fine...but I won't be voting GOP.

That's a straw man argument.

No, it really isn't...look at what Trump said and get back to me.

Jeff and I don't see eye to eye all the time, but this is one time where he's being conservative. Kinda ironic given the tone of the conversation.  It ain't just Trump who is blatantly and offensively racist, it's pretty much the entire crew running on that side. I mean, not a one of them denounced the anti Muslim tirades from the Donald. While there are assholes on both sides of the isle, to take note that Anthony Weiner resigned while David Vitter is still serving in the Senate even after having his ass handed to him in partial thanks to one of the ballsiest campaign ads in recent memory. And if you think that all this political talk has nothing to do with photography, think again. It's politicians who write laws that affect things like copyright and how you might have access to the internet. One side is going to be more in our (the small guy individual photographer) than the other. You figure out which sides those might be. One side might want to open your favorite pristine wilderness landscape to resource extraction and one side might want to protect that more rigorously for future generations. Again, figure out which side is on your side. I could go on and on, but it's almost midnite and time to walk the dog.

Donald Trump is a Clinton plant (to undermine the respectability of the Republican Party), running to stop Jade Helm and baby parts. :D

And don't let's forget that at least one white supremacist group has endorsed Trump as the one candidate that embodies their beliefs.

No, it's not a bit of both. As one who has made his living as a commercial producer for several decades now, I can assure you that at the level they are working, with the resources they have at their disposal, everything they do is intentional, and most of it is tested to ensure that it's getting the desired effect.

Interestingly, this skin tone thing can sometimes be adjusted the other way round.

For instance, who can honestly say this guy is not a vampire:
