Article is not just about music - 'Manufacturing will be hit by an identical crisis, this time it will be caused by 3D printing.'

'Soon we would all have so much recorded music it would cease to have any value.'

N Walker,

Quote
Soon we would all have so much recorded music it would cease to have any value.

The value of music to music-lovers has never related to its financial cost.

N Walker,

The value of music to music-lovers has never related to its financial cost.

Very true but that doesn't help the performers /  songwriters who have to eat, drink & keep a roof over their heads.

The article was more optimistic about the possibility of making money from live performance.

It makes sense, unfortunatey, for the industries that fall into this mould.

Look at photographic stock: from a good earner it's become a waste of investment for the shooter and, I suspect, will have for the agencies too, in the not too distant, whichever model of agency they try to run.

But then, that's life: gets much better all the time without improving at all.
