Title: Canon G3X question

Does the lens take filters? If so, this might be the camera my wife has been waiting for.

According to this there are no filter threads so you would have to come up with an alternate way of putting filters in front of the lens:

It does however have a built in ND.

Thanks. I got hold of someone at Canon. The G3X lens has a bayonet mount at the front which lets you attach a lens hood or a filter adapter. With the adapter you can use standard 67mm filters. It's not clear if hood + filter can be used together.

I neglected to mention this in the review.

Here's what I've just added.

The G3X's lens does not have a filter thread. Instead, Canon sells an accessory lens shade called the LH-DC100 for about $40. This provides not only some flare protection but also allows for the mounting of 67mm filters. The shade and filter adaptor work as a pair.

Is it possible to make a decent 13x19 print from a one inch sensor provided that the photo captured was good quality to begin with?  Can the Canon deliver on this?

Hi Michael,

If you had to compare prints from Samsung NX1 and from Canon G3X, what would be your verdict?
Is there a noticeable difference?

Hello Michael,

I understand that you likely don't want to answer questions specifically comparing various brands to the Canon G3X. I am wondering if you would offer a very short comment on the wide end of this zoom. Generally speaking, could you offer the same positive regard for the 24 to 50 portion of the lens that you do for the longer end? 13x19 prints?
