Title: CANON LUCIA INK REFILLS--BAD IDEA? CANON iPF5100

Hello,  Regarding restocking ink for the iPF5100,  Does anybody know about the possibility of purchasing ink that can be refilled into existing
cartridges?  I need to replace 5 now, and the other 7 soon----at $50 (minimum) each, I'm searching for a less expensive way of using the machine.

This is the highly praised Lucia ink that Canon values so highly.  Anyway,  thanks for any feedback.  Tim

Actually, I have the iPF5000 not the 5100.  Sadly, I am beginning to think getting the printer to work is more hassle than it's worth.  I would have to pay at least $300 to get the machine to begin to print, and soon another few hundred for the other inks....And, then I think it may have driver problems and head problems.   Also, it's difficult to move around.  But it seems a shame to take such a machine to the dump.

which continent are you in?
I have not seen any non-original canon fi-101 ink yet, but there may be some .

I just got an ipf5000 and it does have driver problems.
But when we agree it works much better than the hpz2100 (I have that one in a different location) since it takes up paper from the cassette.
Loading the hp with paper is very time-consuming . Much easier with the canon (if I agree with the printer...)

Another question is which canon large format printer is better re. bronzing, and I see the smaller pro-1 with different type of ink has a gloss ink, do any of the canon large format printers have that?

I'm in the USA.  I will check out farbernwerk.  It's heartening to know that someone is using the 5000 successfully. It really should be
just fine once one gets on top of the menu and working out the various issues.   The ink costs are really the problem.  I would like to use just black and white.
I like black and white, but the machine won't function unless all the inks are installed.  WHY IS THE INK SO EXPENSIVE?  Tim

Ha, I bought one head and several inks (and it guzzled some inks changing head...) so it was not cheap......
But it did take up the paper from the cassette, and print it, so it is many times better than the hpz2100 which also bronzes but takes a long time to load one sheet!
Must take the time next time...(z2100 loading sheets and printing) and compare. I often need several prints of the same thing.
Epson 4900 clogged and I packed it back in the original box...

Ha--indeed.  Ha Ha Ha....The woes of printing. And all I want is it to print black and white, but I've got to buy several other cartridges to get the b&w working... And then the heads are not being given away...Thanks for the comment--helps a lot.  Tim

You could try Ink2Image - they just introduced ink for your Canon - at this link (http://www.ink2image.com/Canonipf5000-5100cartridges.html). From our experience, Ink2Image products have always been very reliable.

Is there some black-and white only ink for the ipf5000? With icc profiles etc? Like inkjetmall has for epsons.

Is there any cheap ink for ipf5000 in europe? I see the link I posted does not have for the ipf5000.

I certainly wish I could find an ink supplier that can cut my ink costs for the canon5000...

but you can use True B&W (http://www.trueblackandwhite.com/) to use only K inks to print your B&W pictures.

From my experience most third party ink suppliers target Epson printers. It'd be nice if Canon printers got some more attention.

and someone mentioned one can top up canon ink, but not when the printer already says ink is low or empty.
