I totally agree Rob. I don't have the most regent or fancy iPhone ... but to be honest, I have taken some wonderful pics with it, and it is usually always with me for exactly that purpose... to take a photo rather than making a call or a text which I do very infrequently.
I also have it with me in a little zip compartment on my running water belt... and I have some wonderful sunset skies!!! No way would I be carrying any other sort of camera when I am running!!!

I'm in the same boat. I bought mine because I had amassed a huge
fortune number of 'credits' from the mobile 'phone company over the years and the actual purchase of the unit was about a third of the usual market price. I call almost nobody, and since the unit is nearly permanently off unless I want to snap something, few folks manage to make it through (who needs a secretary?) and annoy me. However, I feel it's an invaluable safety device when out in the car, and if I discover I have left home without it (the 'phone) I panic. These things come with the years; it's nice to feel I can call someone if I get a flat, or if I feel I'm about to pass out... Fortunately, the latter has only happend to me sitting in restaurants (cheap ones, so it's not that), but, whatever, it's good to feel I can inform someone if there's a crisis of sorts. Well, a mild one.
