Phase / Mamiya lens on Hy6 body
« on: July 19, 2011, 04:13:02 pm »

Is it even possible ? If so, can someone point me in the direction of the required adapter ? I'm curious if  the new 120 pc-ts apo macro Schneider could be used on a  Hy6 body ...

There are currently no adapters to use any third party lenses on the Hy6.

The new schneider 120 T/S  looks cool.   One option would be to consider the Rollei / Schneider 55mm PCS  for the 6000 and Hy6 platforms.  It works excellently with the 1.4x and 2.0x so that is an option to get tilt and shift in the focal length range.

Rollei does offer an adapter called the "M39M40 behind the lens adapter" which has its own shutter and has an m39 internal thread.  These allow the use of many types of lenses that can either fit directly into such as the rodenstock apo rodagons or schneider marcro symmars or S compenons or other enlarging type lens or basically anything that be adapted to that.   This is basically like an electonic shutter with the rollei lens mount and electronics built in.  I use these all the time for macro work, and have made an adapter for my zoerk MFS to get tilt with this setup.  It works quite well.  I think the shortest lens you can get to focus to infinity with this is 135mm however, unless you have a machine shop cut away the front of the M39 adapter and mount the zoerk further into the adapter which I have seen done.  I think Peter Devos on this forum has done this.

Interesting, though it sounds very limited in application (which might explain why I don't know about it :) ). I think I found a photo of one:

Yes, that's it.  Now imagine fitting a zoerk MFS onto to that...  http://www.zoerk.com/pages/p_mfs.htm

Well, that sounds ... messy :) Especially the part about cutting further into the adapter :)
About the 55 pcs - it seems really hard to find, and a full tilt and/or shift with extender shouldn't be a lot of fun on an 80 MP sensor .... am I right about this ?
Anyway, thank you for the suggestions and replies, guys :)

I have the Rollei adapter with Zork tilt adapter. It is the most used lens i had when i was shooting pack-shots and still live with my 6008I2. Mine is ugly, bad looking but still a joy to use. It is the fastest way to shoot with extended scheimplug tilt i ever had. ( and i used all view cameras, Fuji GX, Hassy tilt adapter etc.....) Another great thing is it fits regular enlarging lenses( wich are now called digitars).

Concerning this Rollei Adapter : the only reference I could find so far, was to a Rollei Retro Adapter - is this the same thing  ?
As far as lenses adapted via Zoerk for tilt - any clear recommendation for packshot / macro applications on an 80 MP back ?

You can also use a view camera fitted with a Rollei lens control S adapter and your existing Rollei lenses

It is possible. However, due to in part that it means using 645 lens on 6x6 camera and simply because mounting flange for lens is shorter distance to sensor plane for Mamiya 645 it is only possible to use for very near focus (macro). One could thus make ones adapter by demounting a flange from a Rollei extension tube and screwing with screws together with a flange from an old Mamiya lens (it may need some shim also).

Acutally I tried by simply holding the Mamiya 80/1.9 in front of my Hy6. Near focus of course, and per memory in the range of 20-30cm or so. Is it worth the effort? I purchased 9+17 ET instead for use with the Rollei 80mm and which shortens nearest focus and thus gives suffice shallow DOF for my needs. :)

For T/S, likely not worth the effort to mount a Mamiya on Rollei. I did see a Rollei T/S on Ebay the other month so they do show up. Per memory it sold for roughly around 5,000 USD and was one of those few Rollei items on Ebay that sold very fast.

No, the retro adapter allows you to fit lenses back to front for macro work.

Ok, thank you :) Probably mounting AFD lenses on a view camera, as yair earlier suggested,  would be a safer bet .... even though for location work that 55 looks tempting.

Thank you, that sounds really nice. It makes the Hy6 system even more interesting.
