I browsed several photo websites, including pbase, flickr, photonet, etc. To my surprise, I don't see much professional grade pictures.
Instead, most my favorite shots are from Nikon, Canon, and some from large format. Zeiss,Leica or medium formats are relatively much less.

Is it really true that now professional all go for Canon/Nikon,and Zeiss Leica are left for amature?
Or, the professional grade Zeiss Leica shooters not willing to post it?
Or,simply, I have no clue where to look for?

1: I guess you have to ask yourself – who are the people that post to those sites?

2: There are professionals and artists who use simple and inexpensive gear and there are beginners and wannbes who use high-end gear. I have never seen a correlation one way or the other.

I know some world class Photographers who use amateur equipment especially reportage... they're less conspicuous.

I've had bemused looks from some people for using a Nikon D5000 and a D90 without "High-end fast glass" (It sounds cool but is a silly attempt at being professional).

My Nikon's have made me a lot of money... what I buy is governed by what I need it to do, I look at a spec. and not a review.

It seems that the emphasis is on dissecting images at 100% and testing Dof F and back/front focus with tape measures is the criteria for judging/buying cameras and then when something shows up that's not up to expectations.... back it goes to the manufacturer.

I really don't care who uses what or why but your observation may be well founded. I have just bought a Canon G6 (see test shot) and for £100/$150 it produces excellent
images up to a full page magazine size....... I have never, ever been asked by a client or agency what equipment I use and it really has to earn its keep.

There was (many years ago) a rivalry between Zeiss and Leica users as to which was the better lenses.... I tested some... Zeiss had more contrast and Leica were 'sharper'
but looking at side-by-side images, they looked very much the same.

As for posting on the likes of Flickr, people have asked me why I don't...well my clients would be rather upset to see images on Flickr that they've just paid good
money for and I really don't feel a need to 'share' my work in that way for critique. Yes, I've been called a snob but I move in circles where the aims
are somewhat different.

As for looking in the right place..... try MagnumPhotos but all you'll see is great Photography...members don't post camera/lens/exif data.

The above is only my view and I feel it's faily safe within this forum and hopefully won't prompt screams of indignation.... it's not meant too.
